  • The Academy of Psi summer course is a five-week program that covers the initial portion of BIOSCI107 as part of the University of Auckland Biomedicine degree or HUBS191 as part of the University of Otago Health Science degree. The course is designed to cover material ahead of time to give students a competitive advantage.

  • The program consists of a weekly Zoom lecture, homework, a weekly test, and a final mock at the end of the five-week program. The course runs in the five week period from Monday 5th January 2025 to Monday 2nd February 2025. The only compulsory commitment is attending the weekly lecture, for which you can choose between two sessions: Saturday at 1:00 pm or Sunday at 10:00 am.

  • Applications are judged holistically, although a strong academic background is weighted highly in the selection process. The board has agreed on 60 seats in the 2025 summer cohort, we cannot guarantee everyone a place.

What is the cost of the program?

The Academy of Psi operates on a not-for-profit model, lowering costs to ensure equitable outcomes while still covering tutor wages, copyright licensing, and regular updates to course material. The total cost of the five-week program is $200 NZD.

For comparison, private tutoring from medical students typically costs between $60–100 NZD per hour. We pride ourselves on offering not only five hours of tutoring, but also prepared learning materials, assessments, and operational support at a fraction of this cost.

We also offer financial hardship scholarships, so please reach out if cost is a barrier to your participation.
